What is Mentoring?
Definitions
- Mentor: An experienced individual who acts as a sounding board, coach, and supportive guide for a mentee towards achieving goals.
- Mentee: A relatively new individual who is coached, supported, and held accountable by a mentor towards achieving goals.
- Mentoring: A one-on-one, mutually beneficial, learning relationship between a mentor and a mentee. Both work collaboratively to define goals, develop strategies, and seek resources that will ultimately expand the mentee’s skills and knowledge towards achieving those goals.
The keys to a valuable and productive mentoring relationship are:
