SDSU Connects Peer Mentor Program

SDSU Connects Peer Mentors provide personalized support to first-year students who are not served by other campus programs. They engage in individual outreach to answer questions and connect students to appropriate campus resources. Through one-on-one meetings and social engagement events held throughout the year, Peer Mentors offer guidance, support encouragement to their peers as they navigate their first year at SDSU.
Benefits of Having a Peer Mentor
- Personalized Peer Support: Get guidance from someone who’s been in your shoes and understands the transition to college life.
- Resources: Learn about helpful campus services, events opportunities aligned with your goals and interests.
- Skill Development: Build skills in navigating academics, managing your time making informed decisions.
- Belonging: Form a connection with a mentor who can help you feel more engaged and at home at SDSU!

My favorite part about being an SDSU Connects peer mentor is becoming more connected with my campus and community through the Mentor & Success Coaching Collective. Before starting this position, I didn't know there were so many different organizations on campus that offer students support and mentoring! This role has helped me gain certifications/experience that are applicable to a wide variety of roles, especially leadership positions. All the trainings I have attended have been informative, interactive fun! For my peers at SDSU, I feel like I have made a positive impact through ensuring they know about and use resources in place that are there to help students.
