About
SDSU strives to ensure all members of the campus community are supported, included and uplifted. This effort includes identifying challenges and making improvements when barriers are brought to the university’s attention.
In May 2024, a Tiger Team on Addressing Deadnaming at SDSU was created through the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity as a result of student reports of challenges and barriers faced when updating their lived name at SDSU, the harm that occurs as a result of deadnaming and/or misgendering, and the implementation of California Assembly Bill 760 across all public higher education institutions in California.
After an extensive assessment, the Tiger Team provided a series of recommendations to increase awareness of gender expansive communities, provide resources for those communities and improve the campus climate for the 2SLGBTQIA+, queer and transgender communities.
This web resource represents a substantial step in ensuring an inclusive, supportive and uplifting environment for 2SLGBTQIA+, queer, and trans community members at SDSU. Looking ahead, a working group of students, staff, and faculty members have gathered to lead the implementation of the Tiger Team recommendations and continue to advance SDSU as a progressive, inclusive, and welcoming campus for all.
